24th  Annual Gathering of Cowboy Poetry
 
Enjoy great western heritage and tradition - Reminisce for three days packed with poetry, songs, stories and tall tales of cowboy life past and present.
Come and meet the poets, musicians and artisans at the Horseshoe Pavilion. Sit a spell in the grandstand while the experts train a green horse and entertain you, or catch a ride on the horse-drawn wagons for a tour around the grounds.
The aroma of Alberta beef, the "best in the west" will fill the air on Friday and Saturday at the BBQ.

Full Weekend Pass: $75.00 per person - Weekend Day Passes: $40.00 per person.
(Includes Friday & Saturday BBQ tickets)
  • Weekend Grounds Passes: $20.00 - Gate Fee - $7.00 per day.
(Friday & Saturday BBQ tickets may be purchased at an extra cost)
  • Camping available at the grounds - $10.00 per night. Concessions open 10:00am to 4:00pm - operated by the Districts 4-H Clubs.

This Is When We Kick Off The Weekend

6pmOpen sessions down in The Horseshoe Pavillion followed by plenty of pickin', grinnin' & singin' round
the campfire to cap off the night. Hitch up with old friends and socialize awile.

Get your dance moves ready so you can have even more fun at The Gathering dances on Friday & Saturday.
Pre-registration (Just $3 single / $5 couple) would be appreciated but is not mandatory.



FRIDAY
No Wake Up Call Required. We Don't Start Too Early.

10am      Continuous entertainment featurning Poets and Musicians begins in TWO locations:
They'll be telling tall tales up at The Community Hall and also down at
The Horseshoe Pavillion - where you can also find the COUNTRY MERCANTILE TABLE
to purchase performer merchandise, & browse through the EXHIBITOR BOOTHS for some unique Western
Style Arts, Crafts, Clothing & more.


Noon - 4pm  The Rodeo Arena will have lots of demonstrations by working Cowboys and their horses, performing tasks
that they have to do every day on the ranch.

3pm - 4pm    Head up to The Community Hall for the "Up n' Comer Rhyme n' Lyric Spotlight
Come and cheer on your friends & family in our very own talent competition where they could win a $250.00 prize
courtesy of THE TWIN BUTTE GENERAL STORE, plus prizes from other local businesses.

5pmCHOW TIME!!     Make sure you have your ticket for our Alberta Beef BBQ Supper!!
Get to know the folks at your table. Sit a spell, & take time to digest your food - Cause' Then...

7:30 - 9:30pm     Back up at The Community Hall it's our Friday Feature Presentation
Once the anthems have been performed, your favoutite emcee Bob Westrop will introduce the winner of Friday's
"Up n' Comer Rhyme n' Lyric Spotlight"!
Bob will continue to keep you amused in between our Feature Performers. A Ticket is required!!

10:00pm - 1am   You'll need your dancin' shoes on so you can finish off the evening swingin' your favourite dance pardner
around the floor to the old-time music of "Phil Lethbridge & The Westwinds"



SATURDAY
Get Up, Get Your Coffee And Get Ready To Do It All Again!!

Pre-registration ($5 per person - Fees charged benefit "The Gathering") is appreciated but not mandatory.
Sid Marty, musician and writer, is the author of five nonfiction books and four books of poetry. He has taught
creative writing over the years as a guest instructor at the Banff School of Fine Arts & the Fernie Writer's Festival.
His latest book is The Rider With Good Hands (Frontenac House, Calgary, 2011).
***If possible, Sid would appreciate seeing several of your poems in advance of the workshop.

10:00pm - 1am   Time for our Cowboy Cabaret!
We're aimin' to get the young'uns out to support "Our Saturday Evening Cabaret Entertainers" who will
be playin' their hearts out for the dancers until the wee hours. It's Tim Hus & The Rocky Mountain Band!

If We Didn't Tire You Out Yet... It's Early, But Pancakes Are On!

8amWell, if the good folks from the M.D. and Town Of Pincher Creek can get up on a Sunday morning to cook you a
free breakfast, then we reckon the least you can do is Rise, Shine and eat it! Don't worry, coffee is brewing too.

9:30am  Cowboy Church for all denominations
Also your last chance to try & strike a deal from the vendors in The Horseshoe Pavillion as they'll be
starting to pack things up.

1pmOur Western Family Fun Rodeo Event begins in the Rodeo Arena, & folks... it's Father's Day!!
